Introduction

This training course grants pharmacy professionals with access to the video recording of the live webinar titled Sniffles, Sneezes and Solutions: Navigating Respiratory Health, which was hosted on Knowledge Lab in partnership with Bayer Consumer and Surgipharm.

The webinar focused on the relationship between allergies and the upper respiratory tract issues, highlighting the effective management strategies to alleviate symptoms and improve patient quality of life.

The video recording provides pharmacy professionals who couldn't attend the live session with the opportunity to learn, receive a certificate and Self-Reporting CPD points.

Learning Outcomes

Participants should have a comprehensive understanding of the anatomy and physiology on the upper respiratory tract, the pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis and the effective management strategies for allergic rhinitis, colds and flus.

Course Content

The agenda for the live session included within the recording:

  • Outlining the structure and function of the upper respiratory tract and the role of various components (nasal passages, sinuses, pharynx, larynx) in respiratory health.
  • Differentiate between allergies, colds, and flu. Understanding of the common allergens and their effects on the upper respiratory tract. Outlining the Pathogenesis of Allergic Rhinitis
  • Discussing the role of histamines and other mediators in allergic reactions and recognizing the symptoms and Triggers of Allergic Rhinitis, Review Guideline Management of Allergic Rhinitis
  • Discuss pharmacological treatments (e.g., antihistamines, corticosteroids) and their mechanisms of action. Highlight non-pharmacological approaches (e.g., allergen avoidance, nasal irrigation).Discuss Prevention Strategies for Allergies, Colds, and Flu
  • Outline signs and symptoms that warrant a consultation with a healthcare professional.
